The new Regenstein Learning Campus at the Chicago Botanic Garden proposes an unconventional kids playground for children that encourages discovery and open-ended exploration. Designed by Mikyoung Kim Design and Jacobs/Ryan Associates, the expansive stretch of manicured, undulating gardens incorporates outdoor fixtures that simulate what one might find in nature: waterways, grassy mounds, canopy-like passageways made from branches, and large, hollowed out logs over or through which to climb, consisting in elements that provide foundational experiences of interacting with the natural world.
