In a context where artificial intelligence is profoundly transforming the processes of architectural design, representation, and production, this session offers a critical reflection on its impacts and challenges, both in professional practice and in architectural education.

This conversation will be moderated by Alexandra Paio (architect and associate professor at ISCTE), and we will be joined by special guests Paulo Albuquerque Goinhas (architect and founding partner of the EMBAIXADA arquitetura studio), Paula Melâneo, and Luca Martinucci (architects and associates at 18—25 Research Studio).

Starting from the notion of artificial intelligence as a form of “augmented intelligence,” new forms of mediation between author, tool, and project will be explored.
In parallel, the impact of these technologies on contemporary practice will be analyzed, particularly in the transformation of workflows, visual languages, and design processes, opening up new possibilities for simulation, iteration, and spatial narrative.

Straddling the line between academic experimentation and professional practice, the session proposes a debate on central questions: how can critical thinking be preserved in a context of increasing automation? What skills will be required of architects? And how can education integrate these tools without compromising disciplinary rigor?

The event will take place on May 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the Roca Lisboa Gallery.
Admission is free, but registration is required as space is limited.
