Architecture goes beyond the static and enduring. Today, thanks to studios that dare to cross the boundaries and preconceptions of the profession, architecture is also ephemeral, interactive, immediate, stirring, and experiential.

Performative refers to any action that involves the here and now. It's something we don't want to miss because time will not repeat it for us. The guests of the upcoming Architecture Now!, a late-night show format event taking place at Roca Madrid Gallery and Roca Barcelona Gallery with Nùria Moliner and Roca, project actions, narratives, and experiences. They think about ephemeral spaces and imagine temporary objects that require our physical presence. Fashion, art, mediation, and performance go hand-in-hand with architecture.

GUESTS:

Lara Lesmes (Space Popular), architect and educator with extensive international experience in teaching and architectural practice. She co-directs the research and design studio Space Popular, founded in 2013 with bases in London and Spain. Space Popular creates spaces, objects, and events in both physical and virtual realms, focusing on how these planes overlap in our everyday environment. They have produced buildings, exhibitions, public artworks, furniture collections, and interiors in Asia and Europe, as well as in a virtual and immersive architectural environment.

Raquel Buj (Buj Studio), fashion designer, educator, and architect, founder and director of BUJ Studio, an experimental fashion brand. She conceives her studio as a laboratory where she experiments with the hybridization between fashion and architecture, both conceptually and materially. She investigates materials brought and reformulated from diverse fields, meticulously manipulating them combining craftsmanship and technology in the development of her pieces.

Enrique Espinosa (EEEstudio), architect, co-founder and co-director of PKMN architectures since 2006, associate professor at ETSAM since 2015 and at the University of Alicante since 2022. Since 2016, he has been developing his professional practice in the fields of architecture and the city, collaborating in a network with other professionals and institutions, and his research practices around collaborative learning and production processes. Eeestudio extends the experience and lines of work developed by PKMN around objects, spaces, identities, cities, and intergenerationality under the perspective of the "Studio", a parallel figure to the laboratory that mediates, synthesizes, and operates between ideas and reality (concepts analyzed in research by P. Gallison, A. Wilkies, I. Farias), and which progressively does so from knowledge, platforms, and open, connected networks.
