Boundaries Essentially, architecture and design are about delineating boundaries: the limits between inside and ouside, between up and down, between the public and the private, between construction and nature. Boundaries can be represented by abstract maps and drawings and they can also be experienced spatially in the built reality of the city. Our daily lives are formed by boundaries, which are physical, geographical and cultural, as well as legal, social and political. They are both intellectual and emotional defining the limits of knowledge and those of memory, and for architects and designers in particular, the limits of the imagination are constantly oscillating between the past, present and future in response to the specificities of each project.
