Rethinking Materials and Methodologies Architects and designers have always experimented with the use of new materials and working methods. Nowadays, the use of computers and information technology has profoundly changed design and construction processes. Moreover, the way we understand the construction of buildings, as well as the city itself, is rapidly changing as we confront the consequences in relation to climate change. Many opportunities are presenting themselves including the incorporation of green energies, recycling materials and whole buildings, prefabrication, and research into traditional sustainable systems. The to-do list is very long and the need for action is quite urgent but working together in an interdisciplinary way we will face the challenges of the future.
