Looking ahead, we invite you to explore a selection of articles from 2025 that highlight how architects, urbanists, and designers are defining their practices to address emerging environmental and social challenges. From rethinking domestic and public spaces, to experimenting with low-carbon and circular materials, to testing the potential of new technologies and industrialized construction, we celebrate their creativity and commitment to positive change. Join us in discovering the ideas shaping our shared future.
In response to the increasingly accelerated and stressful pace of contemporary life, there is a growing trend in the hotel industry toward well-being, transformative experiences, and sustainability. This holistic approach redefines the concept of comfort by incorporating biophilic design elements and regenerative strategies, reflecting a growing concern for our environmental and social impact. Architects and designers play a key role in creating restorative spaces that enhance guest enjoyment while promoting a connection with local communities and the natural and urban environments.
The modern movement of the twentieth century sparked a strong interest in industrialized architecture. Today, we continue to explore industrialization, which involves manufacturing building components in factories for assembly on-site, providing faster, more efficient, and more sustainable construction solutions. Growing concerns about waste reduction and respect for the environment are transforming traditional building techniques through the integration of innovative materials and technologies.
Rapid urbanization is a global phenomenon, and the United Nations predicts that by 2050, 68% of the world's population will live in cities. While the dense and complex city offers many benefits and opportunities, unplanned urban growth creates precarious living conditions for millions of people. When considering the future of our cities, environmental and social sustainability must be given the highest priority. Architects, urban planners, and designers will all have important roles to play in developing new solutions.
Within the building, one floor is dedicated to the exhibition of LAUFEN products. This area presents a distinct atmosphere shaped by a darker, more intimate palette that enhances the sculptural presence of the brand’s premium collections.
Inside the Miami Gallery, visitors encounter a carefully curated selection of the brand’s most important collections and bathroom solutions.
Though intimate in scale, the showroom brings together the essential elements of the bathroom — ceramics, furniture, bathtubs, faucets, and materials — allowing architects, designers, developers, and homeowners to explore complete bathroom environments.
The space also highlights key innovations that define the brand, including SaphirKeramik, INEO installation systems, and signature pieces such as the VAL Luminex bathtub. Together, these elements demonstrate LAUFEN’s unique balance of design, technology, and craftsmanship, offering inspiration for projects of many types and scales.
The proximity of the LAUFEN space Milano to the Teatro alla Scala inspired designers to look at the systems used in theatrical backstories. Here, a grid structure suspended between the ceiling and the floor can change shape, illuminate, emit sounds, project videos, and hang objects. This system allows you to combine physical or digital elements with a certain margin of freedom. LAUFEN space Milano is an evolving space that is shaped by the wave of various artists' interventions.
