Mariana Ordóñez Grajales

Mariana Ordóñez Grajales is an architect with a degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán and she is the cofounder of the collective Comunal together with architect Jesica Amescua Carrera. Comunal is based on the concept of architecture as a collaborative and evolving social process that allows for the inhabitants to express their ideas and make decisions. The practice has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications and has been recognized with several prestigious prizes including the Emerging Voices Award 2018, Architectural League NY; the AR Emerging Architecture Award 2019; and Honorable Mention for the Oscar Niemeyer Award for Latin American Architecture 2020.
