Benedetta Tagliabue

Barcelona, Spain

Benedetta Tagliabue was born in Italy and she studied architecture at the Istituto di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV). She is director of the architecture firm EMBT, which she founded in 1994 with Enric Miralles, with offices in Barcelona and Shanghai. The practice has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions and has received many international awards such as the Catalan National Prize in 2001, the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2005 and the Creu de Sant Jordi in 2019. She teaches and lectures at universities around the world and she is the director of the Enric Miralles Foundation, whose goal is to promote experimental architecture in the spirit of her late husband and partner Enric Miralles.
