Michael Adlerstein led the multi-year $2 billion restoration of the United Nations in New York as Assistant Secretary-General of the UN. He presently teaches Historic Preservation at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation. Previously, he served as the Chief Historical Architect for the National Park Service, where he led partnership restoration projects of major historical sites such as Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Jamestown, Hamilton Grange and Gettysburg. He led State Department teams at complex cultural sites within Venezuela, Colombia and at the Taj Mahal in India. He was elevated into Fellowship in the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and was a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
