Roger Paez

Roger Paez is an architect, professor and researcher. He holds a degree in architecture (ETSAB, Hons.), a master’s degree MS AAD (Columbia University, GSAPP Honor Award for Excellence in Design), and a PhD (UPC, Excellent Cum Laude). After working in the studios of Alison+Peter Smithson (London) and Enric Miralles (Barcelona), he founded the A i B in Barcelona. His built works include the award-winning Mas d’Enric Penitentiary. He is architectural design professor at ETSALS, research leader and director of MEATS at ELISAVA, and guest professor at universities worldwide. In addition, he is the author of Critical Prison Design (Actar, 2014) and Operative Mapping (Actar, 2019). Paez works at the intersection of design, architecture, and the city, and his main research interests include mapping and information design, temporary space design, public space, design with social impact and the articulation between artistic and architectural practices.
