Sparking Change, the installation designed by architect Mario Cucinella for the Milan Design Week of 2024, is now on display at Roca Barcelona Gallery.

Roca unveils 'Sparking Change' in Barcelona, an installation that explores a path between tradition and industrial innovation in the ceramics industry.

Sparking Change

It recreates the world's first electric tunnel kiln located at Roca Group's production plant in Gmunden, Austria.

'Sparking Change' **narrates** the cycle of renewal that **supports** sustainability. Composed of colorful 3D printed ceramic blocks, the installation **clearly illustrates** the progressive temperatures required to **achieve** high-quality ceramic products.

Beyond its visual appeal, the versatile blocks also serve as seating areas, inviting visitors to relax, converse, and socialize.

In line with circularity and decarbonization principles, 'Sparking Change' highlights the **significant** environmental benefits of Roca's **innovative** electric tunnel kiln for the production of bathroom ceramics.

The Kiln

Roca Group partnered with Keramischer OFENBAU to install the world's first electric tunnel kiln for sanitaryware ceramics production at its factory in Gmunden, Austria. This highly efficient and sustainable alternative to traditional production methods offers decarbonization and automation capabilities, marking a shift in the ceramics industry.

The initial results of this innovative kiln system show great potential for sanitaryware production, as well as for other sectors, including structural and technical ceramics, and tableware. Progress toward complete decarbonization in ceramics production demonstrates its economic viability and potential for a sustainable future.
