The Roca Lisboa Gallery presents Federico Clavarino's photography exhibition on one of Lisbon's most emblematic neighborhoods, Alvalade.

Alvalade was the first neighborhood in the city to meet modernist urbanization criteria. It was meant to embody both the dream of a modern Lisbon and the idea of order that the regime was keen to promote. The latest theories of urban planning were mixed with a traditionalist aesthetic capable of digesting everything. The neighborhood was supposed to house all
social classes in different types of housing around eight schools.

The photographs presented are a poetic and silent reflection on this territory and on the daily life that persists there. Far from the classic documentary record, the series observes fragments: gardens that spill over into public space, dense shadows between the leaves, architecture designed for order but inhabited by chance.

Between staging and observation, the images explore memory, time, and how 20th-century ideals continue to project themselves into the present.

This exhibition is free to enter and can be visited until March 31, Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
