Exhibition - The Beauty of Everyday Rituals Lisbon Design Week 29-05-26 Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Pinterest Email The Roca Lisboa Gallery will be participating in Lisbon Design Week 2026 with a new exhibition titled The Beauty of Everyday Rituals. The exhibition features an installation by textile artist Teresa Nunes that explores the relationship between memory, well-being, and the daily rituals associated with the bathroom. Inspired by the neoclassical architecture of the 1909 building and Roca’s history in the world of the bathroom—which began in 1929 with the production of bathtubs—the exhibition establishes a dialogue between space, textiles, light, and color. The installation invites reflection on bathing as an intimate and sensory ritual, relating it to the culture of water, personal care, and the experience of living. Through linen and cotton textiles, including antique fabrics dyed with natural plants, the artist constructs a visual narrative that spans the gallery’s different floors. On the first floor, warm, earthy tones evoke elements of the urban landscape and traditional clay vessels associated with water. On the second floor, watery green hues create a more ethereal atmosphere, connected to nature and the sensory dimension of bathing. Teresa Nunes is a Lisbon-based textile artist whose work blends tradition, memory, and sustainability. Inspired by the traditional textile practices she grew up with, she combines techniques such as embroidery, patchwork, appliqué, and natural dyeing in pieces that explore the tactile and narrative potential of textiles. Her work prioritizes environmentally responsible methods, frequently utilizing the reuse of materials, plant-based dyeing, and repair. As a complement to the exhibition The Beauty of Everyday Rituals, the Roca Lisboa Gallery will host two guided tours led by artist Teresa Nunes during Lisbon Design Week.
